Ashok Leyland and Rosmerta partner on commercial vehicle scrappage

Ashok Leyland has partnered with Rosmerta Recycling to make commercial vehicle scrappage in India more accessible, compliant and transparent. The collaboration will connect customers with authorised RVSFs, support deregistration and statutory paperwork, and encourage the replacement of ageing vehicles while improving material recovery and supporting India’s circular economy goals.

Ashok Leyland has partnered with Rosmerta Recycling to support the responsible scrappage of end-of-life commercial vehicles across India.

The commercial vehicle manufacturer, part of the Hinduja Group, said the agreement will give customers easier access to Rosmerta Recycling’s network of authorised Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs).

Rosmerta operates vehicle recycling facilities across India, providing compliant dismantling and material recovery services for end-of-life vehicles.

The partnership supports the Indian Government’s Voluntary Vehicle Modernisation Programme, which encourages older and more polluting vehicles to be replaced with cleaner, more efficient alternatives. It also complements the recently announced Naya Safar Scheme, aimed at reducing transport-related emissions across the Delhi-NCR region.

Through Ashok Leyland’s dealer network, customers will be directed to Rosmerta’s authorised scrappage facilities and supported through the complete process, including vehicle deregistration and other statutory documentation.

Kartick Nagpal, President of Rosmerta Group, said the partnership came at an important time, with government-backed commercial vehicle replacement initiatives expected to accelerate organised vehicle scrappage in India.

He pointed to the mandatory scrappage of BS-III and older commercial vehicles through authorised RVSFs in Delhi-NCR, which is expected to cover around 207,000 vehicles.

“Our partnership with Ashok Leyland comes at a pivotal time, as the Government’s recently approved commercial vehicle replacement initiatives are expected to accelerate organised vehicle scrappage across India. The mandatory scrappage of BS-III and older commercial vehicles through authorised RVSFs, covering an estimated 2.07 lakh vehicles in Delhi-NCR, is a significant step towards cleaner mobility and a stronger circular economy. Under the partnership, Ashok Leyland customers may benefit from competitive values for their old vehicles, scrappage-linked manufacturer discounts on new vehicle purchases, and road tax and registration fee waivers where applicable under government policy.

The companies said the initiative would encourage more commercial vehicle owners to use authorised scrappage channels while providing a more convenient, transparent and compliant route for disposing of end-of-life vehicles.
