AutoLoop is building a centralised Norwegian dismantling operation designed to make reused parts more reliable, accessible and competitive. Rasoul Shiyardari says consistent quality control, accurate parts data, secure logistics and stronger collaboration with repairers, insurers and importers are essential if recycled components are to become the automotive industry’s first choice.

Rasoul Shiyardari, General Manager at AutoLoop in Norway, discusses how the company is building a modern, centralised dismantling operation focused on quality, technology and reuse. He explains how improved processes, accurate parts data, reliable logistics, and closer collaboration with repairers, insurers, and importers can make recycled components a trusted first choice.

Learning from Sweden’s quality-led dismantling model

I have extensive experience in the automotive repair industry through my former body shops, and even then, I had a strong focus on using recycled parts. Over the years, I also learned a great deal from my skilled colleagues in Sweden. When visiting their facilities, it was clear how far ahead they were in terms of quality, structure, and operational design.

What impressed me most was how they had dedicated zones for every necessary work process required to ensure high-quality parts. They had separate areas for component testing, depollution, dismantling of larger components, door stripping, engine departments, and dedicated washing rooms for both large and small parts.

Everything was designed around efficiency, quality, and good working conditions.

I have always enjoyed building workplaces and businesses. Throughout my career, I have helped develop and rebuild several repair centers, and I have always had an entrepreneurial passion for creating something of my own, building workplaces and providing opportunities for people of all nationalities and backgrounds. Seeing others succeed in my workplace motivates me greatly.

Creating a connected platform for automotive reuse

The AutoLoop concept is about creating a new standard for quality, technology, and reuse within the automotive industry.

We aim to make the vehicle dismantling industry more efficient, sustainable, and better connected. Today, the industry is often characterized by complex processes and underutilized resources. Our approach is about simplifying the value chain and improving collaboration among all parties involved, ensuring that valuable vehicle parts and materials are reused to a much greater extent rather than wasted.

Through our platform, we aim to bring repair shops, insurance companies, importers, and dismantling operators into closer, more integrated collaboration. This will increase access to quality parts, create more cost-effective solutions, and support more sustainable repairs.

Our vision is to make reuse the first choice within the automotive industry, building a more circular industry where vehicle parts are not discarded but instead given a second life, either back on the road or transformed into new products.

Building a centralised operation around quality

Naturally, there have been challenges along the way. Starting with empty facilities, no inventory, and no vehicles is not easy. At the same time, it gives us a unique opportunity to build everything correctly from the very beginning, both in terms of quality and logistics, and ensure the right parts are available in stock.

We also believe that one large, modern facility offers many advantages over multiple smaller operations with lower productivity. By centralizing production, we can ensure consistent quality on all parts while giving repair shops deliveries from one single warehouse, making the process far more efficient and manageable for customers.

The quality of the parts we deliver to repair shops is absolutely critical to us. Workshops need to trust what they receive every single time they order parts, and the parts must be available when needed. Many workshops have experienced the frustration of receiving recycled parts that do not meet the agreed quality standard or simply cannot be used. This creates major disruptions in production and can delay several repairs.

That is why it is so important for us to eliminate these challenges through better quality control, accurate information about every part, correct part numbers, and secure transportation solutions that ensure parts arrive undamaged.

Competing through data, speed and independence

We are entering a market dominated by large organizations. However, with our IT solutions, the strategic location of our facility just outside Oslo, our large parts inventory, and a highly efficient building designed for high production capacity, we believe that a single facility can compete with or even outperform some of the largest parts producers in Norway.

We also have a long-term ambition to bring more stakeholders from the Norwegian automotive industry into the ownership structure. We believe this could strengthen collaboration across the industry over time. At the same time, there are clear advantages to being independent and not owned by large corporate groups. It allows us to make decisions quickly and move much faster than many established players.

The biggest barriers in the market today are primarily related to quality and information, especially access to correct part numbers and accurate quality information about the parts.
