French automotive recycler GPA has launched a B2B offer for reused electric vehicle traction batteries, aiming to build confidence in an emerging market. Backed by rigorous diagnostics, two-year warranties, ADR-compliant transport and €2.5m of site investment, the initiative supports safer battery reuse as an alternative to costly and complex recycling.
Since 15 June 2026, Groupe GPA has been offering traction batteries for electric vehicles on its website. This still-emerging market aims to develop the reuse of batteries removed from end-of-life vehicles (ELVs), as an alternative to recycling, which remains costly and complex today. To make this commercial offer reliable and secure, GPA is drawing on all its expertise in dismantling electric vehicles and diagnosing batteries. Rigorous inspection processes have been put in place to guarantee the quality and fair pricing of its offer, which is aimed primarily at professionals.

Making traction batteries attractive in order to extend the life of electric vehicles
To secure its breakthrough in this emerging market, GPA has made the strategic choice to combine high standards in product diagnostics, transparency in presenting battery health, and competitive pricing.
Each traction battery offered for sale comes with a detailed technical sheet enabling professional buyers to understand all its specifications. This diagnosis is carried out by GPA technicians with high levels of certification. They are based in dedicated electric-vehicle processing units in Livron-sur-Drôme (26), Pont-Sainte-Maxence (60), and Écouflant (49). The data is then analysed on a case-by-case basis, taking manufacturers’ recommendations into account, in order to determine whether the battery can be marketed. The entire process enables GPA to provide a two-year warranty, in line with its offer.
Given the safety issues associated with transport, Groupe GPA has put in place a battery delivery system that complies with ADR regulations.
A planned ramp-up
Initially, GPA’s catalogue is launching with around twenty references. These cover common vehicle models, such as the Renault Zoé, Tesla, Peugeot 208, and others. However, the company has a significant stock of traction batteries, 400 to date, that could potentially be marketed.
GPA has invested €2.5 million in its three plants to meet the quality and safety requirements associated with processing electric vehicles. In addition to infrastructure that complies with the strictest standards, including building separation and confined areas, nearly 50 team members have obtained the required certifications.
At the same time, to streamline the qualification of traction batteries and help this market segment take off, GPA is working with its partners to optimise the reuse offer.
Training provided at GPA sites
GPA is now a benchmark in the processing of electric vehicles. With 50 certified technicians, secure and ultra-modern equipment designed in-house and tailor-made for the task, the Livron-sur-Drôme and Pont-Sainte-Maxence sites have been approved to host certification training delivered by CESVI for automotive recycling operators and repairers.
