The Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) announced today that a relief fund has been established for professional automotive recyclers impacted by the COVID-19 virus.
In large part, this came about after ARA Associate Member company, Car-Part.com, announced that the company will pledge up to $30,000 to the fund.
Automotive Recyclers Association Executive Director, Sandy Blalock said,
“Everyone is being impacted by the Coronavirus,” He added: “Professional automotive recyclers are no different. Our industry represents thousands of businesses in all shapes and sizes and thousands of employees. Many of our members are also family-owned businesses, often second or third generation. We are fortunate in that automotive recycling businesses are recognized as essential businesses and can continue to remain open to provide safe, quality recycled OEM parts to consumers. However, many of our members are struggling to cope with the impact of this global pandemic.”
“We have offered to donate up to $30,000 to an ARA COVID-19 relief fund (representing a $10,000 initial contribution and up to an additional $20,000 to match contributions from others),” Vice President Roger Schroder and Founding CEO Jeff Schroder said in a release to Car-Part.com users.
The ARA COVID-19 Relief Fund will be available for ARA direct members. More information will be available shortly.
“We are sincerely appreciative of the generous donation from Car-Part.com,” said ARA President, Scott Robertson. “Car-Part.com has been a longtime ARA member and strong industry supporter since its creation – and even before that through the active involvement of the Schroder family. We thank them for their leadership during this challenging time and recognize this important step in helping ARA support the survival of the automotive recycling industry.”
ARA has been at the forefront in helping the automotive recycling industry cope with the impact of COVID-19. The Association has been releasing daily updates to the membership and professional automotive recyclers around the world with both general and industry-specific information on how the global pandemic is impacting the recycled parts market and industry business practices. “The role that ARA will play in helping our industry recover from this crisis is exactly what our association stands for to be there when our industry needs us to be strong and help guide them,” said Sandy Blalock.
