Back to business for IARC 2021!

IARC 2021, the 20th edition of the International Automobile Recycling Congress is being held in Geneva this year from June 23 – 25, 2021.

The event will be both onsite – the exhibition is a very important part of the meeting and many are keen to get back to business in person – with a livestream to allow participants from across the globe to follow the debates and exchange with the speakers.

2021 is set to be a critical year for the automotive recycling business. The complete recast of the EU End-of-Life Vehicles Directive is likely to have a serious impact on car and parts manufacturers and on the whole car dismantling and recycling industry. There are also discussions about whether the Directive should be extended to include other mobility sectors such as motorbikes, trucks and buses.

Industry also has serious concerns about the EU plans to ban the export of certain recycled materials as part of the EU Green Deal and Circular Economy Package. This might also have a huge impact on the global sustainable recycling industry.

Pressure is also building on recycling companies to make necessary investments in new dismantling and shredding techniques in the context of the accelerating uptake of electro-mobility. The increasing numbers of actors handling these new technologies also bring challenges and responsibilities in terms of training and safety in particular.

IARC 2021 will address these key questions and more and is the only event to bring together the players from the entire industry value chain. ICM conferences have made a name for themselves over the years through their professional organisation, critical content, exclusive site visits and great networking, always in a fabulous atmosphere.

ICM is really looking forward to welcoming delegates back to Geneva after this challenging year and is planning a 20th birthday event to remember. Nothing can really replace meeting up in person, we have a lot of catching up to do!

It is still possible to submit an abstract for consideration as the programme is under finalisation.
