Duration of IFAT Munich modified for 2026

IFAT Munich is on a growth trajectory, as the exhibitor and visitor numbers for the 2024 event impressively demonstrated. A key part of this success story is the ability of the world’s leading trade fair to always adapt itself to new developments and the needs of visitors and exhibitors. After comprehensive evaluations and in consultation with companies and trade associations, Messe München has decided to shorten the exhibition from five to four days. IFAT Munich 2026 will now take place from May 4 to 7, 2026 (Monday to Thursday). The opening hours will remain unchanged at 9 am to 6 pm. As in the past, IFAT Munich will feature an attractive program of events and interesting guests on the last day of the trade fair.

IFAT Munich celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2026

“The new schedule will make IFAT Munich even more efficient,” says Stefan Rummel, CEO of Messe München. “At the same time, we will conserve the resources of our exhibitors and visitors. We have taken the upcoming anniversary in 2026—60 years of IFAT Munich—as an opportunity to optimize processes and have adjusted the length of the trade fair in light of this. The magnificent growth of IFAT Munich over the past decades is the direct result of the partnership-based dialogue that we conduct with many industry players and our ability to react flexibly to new developments. We will maintain this successful model in the future.”

The world’s leading platform for environmental technology

In 2026, IFAT Munich will also have a new name. The world’s leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management will now be called IFAT Munich: Solutions for Water, Recycling and Circularity. This name underscores the trade fair’s role as a platform where the world’s leading and most innovative companies and agenda setters come together to present solutions in the fields of water, recycling and the circular economy.
