Fenix Parts: People-Powered. Future-Focused

As Fenix Parts, Inc. marks a decade in business, its growth story stands as a testament to strategic ambition, resilience, and continuous innovation. Since its founding in 2015, the company has expanded to 33 facilities across North America, adding four new locations in 2024 alone. Bill Stevens, Chief Executive Officer at Fenix Parts, tells us about the company’s rapid expansion, the evolving landscape of the auto recycling industry, and how Fenix is positioning itself at the forefront of sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence.

Strategic growth, smart lessons, and a bold vision for what’s next

Growth was always part of Fenix’s vision, but like any ambitious goal, we had to first figure out how to achieve it efficiently and sustainably. The Fenix you see today is not the same Fenix that launched in 2015. We’ve had our fair share of trial-and-error moments along the way, and we’re proud of that. We’re not afraid to admit when something doesn’t work—what matters is how quickly we learn from it and adapt.

Each new facility we bring on board is a reflection of the lessons we have learned and the progress we have made. We’re excited about what’s next and committed to building a stronger, smarter Fenix with every step forward.

Ten years in, Fenix reflects on a decade of industry transformation and its role in driving innovation, agility, and change in auto recycling

The last decade has brought some pretty dramatic shifts in the auto recycling industry, and Fenix has grown right alongside (and sometimes ahead of) those changes. Like many businesses, the pandemic really pushed us to reevaluate how we operate. Practically overnight, we had to pivot from mostly in-person workflows to remote models, especially for our sales teams. Today, we’ve landed in a hybrid space that gives us more flexibility while keeping us closely connected to our customers.

One of the biggest lessons we learned early on was the importance of centralization. To scale efficiently, we realized we couldn’t keep every department siloed at the site level. So we made a conscious shift to bring major functions, like IT, marketing, finance, and HR, under one roof at our headquarters. That move not only helped streamline decision-making but also gave us the agility to respond quickly to a rapidly evolving industry.

As the auto recycling space has become more tech-driven, data-focused, and customer-centric, we like to think Fenix has played a key role in pushing the industry forward, showing that with the right mindset and a willingness to adapt, even a traditional business can evolve into something pretty innovative.

Fenix’s proudest achievement: celebrating the team, the culture, and the journey

Fenix isn’t just about one single achievement; it’s about the collective effort that’s brought us to where we are today. If we had to pick what we’re proudest of, it would be the team we’ve built and the culture we’ve created. Across all 30+ locations, from sales to operations to support teams at headquarters, it’s the people behind Fenix who’ve made everything possible.

Whether it was navigating growing pains, adapting through a pandemic, or embracing new ways of doing business, our ability to come together, stay flexible, and keep moving forward has been our biggest success. So really, our proudest achievement is the journey itself, built one day, one lesson, and one incredible team at a time.

At Fenix, sustainability isn’t a goal; it’s a way of doing business

Sustainability has always been part of our mission at Fenix; it’s quite literally built into what we do every day. Auto recycling is inherently green, but we’ve made it a priority to take that even further. One of the ways we’ve done that is by launching a dedicated EV dismantling location, focused specifically on the safe and responsible processing of electric vehicles. It’s a big step toward supporting the evolving future of mobility.

At the same time, we recognise that the industry is changing rapidly, so we remain committed to learning, adapting, and investing in new practices that align with what’s next. Every one of our locations has earned the Gold Standard, and that’s not by accident; it’s the result of ongoing effort to make sure each site operates as cleanly and sustainably as possible.

For us, being green isn’t a checkbox; it’s a mindset. And we’re excited to keep finding new ways to raise the bar.

Embracing innovation, powered by people—Fenix is ready for what’s next

The next decade in auto recycling is going to be shaped by some exciting innovations, and at Fenix, we’re leaning into that change. One major area is the emergence of AI and data-driven tools. Whether it’s inventory management, pricing insights, or predictive analytics, we’re exploring how these technologies can help us work smarter, serve customers better, and ultimately move the industry forward.

But even with all the tech in the world, people still matter. As vehicles become more complex, the role of knowledgeable, relationship-driven salespeople is more important than ever. We’re focused on building teams that not only understand the products but also take the time to understand our customers’ needs.

We also believe that innovation doesn’t have to be flashy; sometimes it’s about constant, thoughtful improvement. We regularly evaluate our workflows to ensure our teams are working as safely and efficiently as possible. That culture of continuous improvement is what keeps us sharp and prepared for whatever’s coming next.
