For its first participation in an international exhibition, the GPA Group, a major player in the recycling of mobility in France, has chosen the largest European meeting of automotive after-sales, Automechanika Frankfurt. The opportunity for the company drôme to present the indicator which will appear on its reuse parts from the 1st of October 2024. The “Eco Repair Score®” is a rating system developed by the eponymous Belgian company with which GPA announces the signing of an exclusive partnership.

Like a Nutriscore, the interest is to measure the environmental impact of a repair, which depends, in particular, on the parts used. Above all, this indicator gives the possibility for individuals and professionals to make an informed choice about the solutions the most respectful of the environment and the least CO2 emitting. GPA is the first reuse player in France to use this tool.
After the announcement of the acquisition of the Angevin company Debrito at the beginning of summer, the GPA Group continues its strategic roadmap towards a more environmentally friendly industry and an increase in its influence. The gradual increase in its production, which it plans to multiply by three by 2027, will allow it to consolidate its place among the leaders on the market hexagonal and open up new international perspectives. This is the meaning of this first participation in the leading automotive after-sales show, Automechanika Frankfurt.
On this occasion, the GPA group will present the Eco Repair Score® indicator, which will be affixed to its so-called “skin” parts for sale, that is, the bodywork elements, lighting, and rims, from October 1, 2024.
This approach is the result of a recent partnership signed with the Belgian company that created and developed the tool. Eco Repair Score provides GPA with information related to the carbon savings achieved with the use of a reused part. This qualification can be considered in isolation for individuals or entered into the overall calculation of the impact of a repair for professionals. This indicator will be made available to the insurer partners of the Drôme recycler in the context of increased needs for extra-financial reporting, in particular, linked to the CSRD directive.
In return, GPA transmits its expertise and parts tracing data to Eco Repair Score, which thus integrates and enriches its algorithm.
“How to display ambitions in terms of sustainability without being able to measure the performance in a fair and comparable way? The Eco Repair Score® is the tool that appears to us to be the most relevant for this complex and strategic challenge,” indicates Johan Renaud, Director of GPA.
“We are delighted to enter into a strong partnership with GPA 26,” adds Wout Van Den Abbeele, CEO of Eco Repair Score®. “This partnership reflects our shared commitment to the economy circular and the joint development of transparent tools that will directly benefit consumers.”
VITO, an independent Flemish research organization in the field of technology for clean and sustainable development, has validated the A to E rating system (A representing the lowest environmental impact and E the highest).
The indicator is one of the most complete on the market. To get an overview of the effects on the environment, it carries out a scientific analysis of the life of the product, which brings into play 18 impact categories: CO2 equivalent emissions, destruction of the ozone layer, radiation ionizing, ozone formation (human health), ozone formation (earth), fine particle emissions, acidification, eutrophication (freshwater), ecotoxicity (land), ecotoxicity (sea), substances carcinogens (for humans), carcinogens (for other living beings), use of soils, depletion of mineral resources, depletion of fossil resources, consumption of water.
