Ford is recalling more than 300,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to a critical brake system issue that could pose serious safety risks, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a report in the Daily Mail.

The recall targets several 2025 models, including the Lincoln Navigator, F-150, Expedition, Bronco, and Ranger, due to a potential failure in the Electronic Brake Booster (EBB). If the EBB fails while driving or using the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), drivers could experience loss of power brake assist, which may lead to longer stopping distances and an increased risk of crashes.
To address the issue, Ford will roll out a free software update, either over-the-air (OTA) or through its dealerships.
This isn’t Ford’s first brake-related recall this year:
- May 2025: Ford recalled 273,789 vehicles from the 2022–2024 Navigator and Expedition lines. The concern: front brake lines might rub against the engine air cleaner outlet pipe, causing brake fluid leaks.
- April 2025: Two separate recalls affected over 148,000 vehicles:
- 123,611 units, including 2017–18 F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator models, were recalled due to fluid leaks that could compromise braking performance.
- An additional 24,655 2025 Explorer vehicles were recalled due to a powertrain control module (PCM) reset issue that could stall the engine or damage the park system.
- 123,611 units, including 2017–18 F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator models, were recalled due to fluid leaks that could compromise braking performance.
With repeated recalls affecting key models, Ford owners are urged to check their VIN numbers and respond promptly to any service notifications.
Safety Tip: Drivers of 2022–2025 Ford or Lincoln models should visit NHTSA.gov/recalls to check if their vehicle is affected.
