Upcoming IRT Webinar – Thursday 30th October 2025, 12:00 GMT
France’s end-of-life vehicle (ELV) sector is undergoing a profound transformation, one marked by stronger partnerships, regulatory innovation, and a shared determination to combat illegal activity while building a truly circular automotive economy. On Thursday 30th October 2025, the International Round Table on Auto Recycling (IRT) will host a must-attend webinar – ‘The Evolving Landscape of End-of-Life Vehicles in France: Tackling Illegal Trafficking and Strengthening Industry Collaboration.’
Starting the 60-minute session, Vanessa Montagne, General Director of Recycle Mon Véhicule, will provide an in-depth exploration of France’s recent progress. Over the past 18 months, the country has introduced new contractual frameworks between producers and Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs), while intensifying efforts to curb illegal vehicle trafficking. Montagne will highlight how these frameworks are redefining accountability, improving traceability, and aligning recyclers, producers, and regulators under a shared vision of environmental responsibility and transparency.
Montagne’s insights will also focus on the growing collaboration between public authorities and private operators. By fostering stronger relationships among recyclers, manufacturers, and enforcement bodies, France is strengthening the integrity of its ELV system, ensuring that more vehicles reach authorised channels, materials are recovered responsibly, and illegal operators face increasing scrutiny.
Following Montagne, Claire Lichawski, an independent consultant in environmental law and circular economy, will present how industry-led initiatives are rebuilding market trust in reused vehicle parts. Drawing from her leadership in the SRA certification programme for ATFs, Lichawski will explain how this quality label, developed in partnership with insurers, is setting new standards for part traceability and performance.
By enhancing consumer confidence and ensuring that reused components meet consistent quality benchmarks, the SRA initiative is helping to close the loop between dismantlers, insurers, and repair networks. Lichawski will share how these partnerships are not only improving part reuse rates but also creating a more transparent and collaborative supply chain for the automotive circular economy.
Hosted by Steve Fletcher and moderated by Haydn Davies, the webinar will offer an open and engaging discussion on how France’s evolving ELV model can serve as a blueprint for other European markets. Participants will gain practical insights into regulatory compliance, contractual innovation, and the integration of sustainability goals throughout the vehicle lifecycle.
For anyone involved in the automotive recycling industry, this IRT webinar offers an invaluable opportunity to understand the mechanisms driving change in one of Europe’s most dynamic recycling markets and how international stakeholders can adapt similar approaches to their own operations.
