Stakeholders are reminded that there is still time to contribute to the open public consultation on the review of the Directive on the end-of-life vehicles.
The open public consultation will be open for two groups of stakeholders – citizens with a general interest in the area of end-of-life vehicles, and stakeholders (economic operators, NGOs, public administrations….) who have specific knowledge and/or interest in end-of-life vehicles.
The purpose of the consultation
The Commission completed an evaluation of Directive 2000/53/EC on end-of-life vehicles in 2021[1]. It identified various shortcomings of the ELV Directive. Following up on the evaluation, the European Commission is now working on an impact assessment in support of a possible revision of the ELV Directive. In view of the links between the ELV Directive and the “3R type-approval” Directive 2005/64/EC, a joint review of both Directives will be carried out.
In a letter to stakeholders, the ELV Team said:
“Your contribution is very important for the upcoming steps in reviewing the EU rules on the ELVs. Therefore, we encourage you to participate in the consultation process and to share this information with your counterparts.”
Stakeholders are welcome to contribute to the consultation process by filling in the questionnaire which will be open until midnight on the 26th of October at www.ec.europa.eu/info/law/better-regulation
