JARA–China deal targets traceable recycled parts trade

JARA has signed a strategic collaboration agreement with China’s CARIDC to improve ELV traceability and accelerate cross-border trade in reused components. The partnership will develop a monitoring system to track vehicles and recycling processes in both countries, aiming to build a more transparent, scalable international market for recycled parts.

The Japan Auto Recycling Association (JARA; NPO-JARA, President: Satoshi Takahashi) has signed a strategic collaboration agreement with the Automotive Recycling Industry Committee for the China-Asia Economic Development Association (CARIDC) at the 14th Asian Automotive Environmental Forum in Tianjin.

Focus on traceability and process monitoring

Under the agreement, the organisations will work on developing a monitoring system for vehicles to be recycled and for tracking the status of recycling processes in China and Japan. The collaboration also sets out Japan–China joint efforts to grow an international market for recycled parts.

Regional forum for industry dialogue

The Asian Automotive Environmental Forum provides a platform for information sharing and opinion exchange among automotive recycling professionals across Asian and Pacific-region countries. This year’s event, hosted by CARIDC, an organisation created by the Chinese government to promote recycling, was held in October, with participants from Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Australia and China.

Market outlook for recycled parts

During the forum, Sosho Kitajima, Executive Director of NPO-JARA, presented on the future potential of the Chinese recycled parts market. Kitajima said:

“China has significant power in the world market of recycled parts for the future. We will go with them as a good rival and partner.”
