The Japan Automotive Parts Recyclers Association (JAPRA: President: Yukio Sato) aims to build a mutually connecting system to enable parts information sharing systems for its member recyclers by this year. This will be the first time for the industry connects to almost all major parts of information systems across the country.
The participating groups are the NGP Group (President: Nobuo Kobayashi), JARA Corporation (President: Kenichiro Yajima), Big Wave Inc. (President: Atsushi Hattori), JAPRA Corporation (President: Toji Murakami), SPN (Chairman: Tetsu Saito), SSG Group (President: Kaoru Okuma), and ARN (President: Takanori Okada).
With the system connectivity, approximately five million parts items can be searched simultaneously. Hereafter, recyclers will be able to respond promptly to inquiries from car dealers and repair shops. Until now, the greatest challenge has been the high transport cost of recycled parts to remote areas. However, with the nationwide inventory information connectivity, ordered parts will be shipped from the recycler closest to the customer, resulting in reduced transport costs and delivery time. Sato said, “To widen recycled parts users among car owners, we need to increase the volume of parts inventory and raise the capability of parts supply.”
Because of a decline in new vehicle sales, the automotive recycled parts industry is finding it difficult to procure end-of-life vehicles (ELVs), which are a source for remanufacturing recycled parts. In this challenging situation, the recycling group JAPRA aims to facilitate the sharing of parts inventory information, thereby maintaining the supply capacity and encouraging the use of recycled parts.
