Bruce Bacon, President of SAS Forks, a division of Tenamec, is pleased to announce that SAS Forks (Luxemburg, WI) has re-structured to accommodate record and future growth. The parent of SAS will be now known as SAS Group with SAS Forks, SAS Rail and DRKhorse Tools heading the three divisions.
SAS Forks will continue to be the market leader in automotive recycling and auto reclamation centers, as well as other severe duty applications such as quarry, scrap metals and railroad applications. SAS Rail will specialize in supplying railroad couplers, railcar movers and other rail-affiliated attachment needs.
The DRKhorse Tools division is focused on supplying heavy-duty attachments for demolition, scrap processing, construction and material handling. Tools such as mobile shears, concrete demolition crackers and pulverizers, demolition grapples, hydraulic hammers, hydraulically powered magnets and other products will be offered.
Bacon expressed, “Our approach is unique. In years of traveling the globe, I recognized that there are innovative, advanced attachment manufacturers who do not have a presence in North America. It is extremely difficult to enter a continent without local knowledge of distribution, end users’ needs and name recognition. It takes years and millions of investment dollars to gain traction. DRKhorse provides an innovative solution to these manufacturers.”
Bacon continued, “Our strategy at DRKhorse is to access (through decades of connections) the best of the best products from Europe, S. Korea, Japan, Australia and North America and combine them under one brand. Service support, product and parts inventories, along with full administrative, engineering and manufacturing support will be housed out of our recently expanded factory here in Luxemburg, Wisconsin. Finally, we have industry leading sales veterans who are well respected and known in these specialized industries to provide additional customer support during and after the sales process.”
Led by Bacon and Sal LaCorte, Director of Business development, DRKhorse has already entered into agreements with some of the premier manufacturing companies from Europe.
LaCorte indicated, “A DRKhorse dealer council will be established, and they will help determine what additional products will be brought into our product offering. Interestingly, we have already been approached by several European and Korean companies, expressing interest in ‘their’ fine products being a part of the DRKhorse portfolio.”
“Between SAS, DRKHorse and our sister brands, Builtrite and Lemco, we anticipate excellent dealer response, and I personally look forward to re-engagement with Scrap and Demolition customers where many relationships have been built over the past few decades. I have deeply missed those people while I veered off into other pursuits over the past few years. It feels good to be back!” says Bacon.
“While market disruption may be part of my legacy, I have nothing but fond memories, relationships and pride in my years working at LaBounty, Genesis and Exodus Machines and respect the quality of their products and people,” says Bacon. “I have a great deal of pride in being a part of those past ‘market disruptors’.“
“Change is constant and needed. I felt like there are ‘enough’ quality attachment manufacturers in the world, and while I have been a part of bringing many products to the world, now I am bringing the world back here. It really is a global marketplace. We will only procure from countries who are trade-friendly with the U.S. and reciprocate fair trade practices and respect international law. Our supplier/partners must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in these markets, be profitable and have a reputation of excellence in design, product support, integrity and a high-level, end-user client list.”
