Used parts are a smart alternative to new parts. With this message, Stiba, Auto Recycling Nederland (ARN) and RAI Aftermarket are launching an initiative to encourage the reuse of parts. Original used parts can be found online, are transparently priced and come with a warranty.
The Dutch automotive sector is taking its responsibility in the circular transition by encouraging the reuse of parts. That is why the above parties have joined forces to give the reuse of parts a permanent place in the repair and maintenance of the Dutch fleet. The goal? Double the reuse of parts.
Calculate your own CO2 savings on a part
As of today, it is possible to calculate the CO2 savings for common car parts, from production and logistics to installation. The consumer can immediately see the effect of his or her choice on using the CO2 Calculator, per type of car and per part.
The CO2 Calculator in numbers
Did you know that reusing a sheet metal part quickly results in more than 80% CO2 savings on average? And that the average saving of an original used part compared to a new part is, on average, 71.9 kg CO₂. That equals 19.4 days of power consumption, flying from Amsterdam to London, 1,800 cups of coffee and showering 200 times.
Affordable mobility for everyone
With an average age of 12 years, the Dutch fleet is one of the oldest in Western Europe. If there are opportunities to save on car costs, consumers will not fail to do so.
Used parts are cheaper in most cases, up to 60% compared to a new part. For this reason, too, original used parts are a smart alternative to a new one for many people.
