At this year’s General Meeting of Members (GMM), held on October 2nd, 2024, at Circa in Amsterdam, attendees gathered to discuss critical industry topics, elect new leadership, and celebrate longstanding contributions to the organization. The event coincided with the ARN Relationship Day, fostering collaboration and addressing key themes in vehicle and battery recycling.

New Board Member: Natasja Noordam Joins Stiba Leadership

The meeting opened with a warm welcome from Stefan Cabri, Stiba’s general secretary. Among the key moments was the election of Natasja Noordam from Autodemontagebedrijf Kempenaar in Driebergen-Rijssenburg as a new board member. Known for her dedication, Natasja received unanimous support from the GMM, marking a three-year term that signals a fresh and forward-looking approach for Stiba.

Advancing the Industry: Important Updates and Initiatives

General Secretary Stefan Cabri and Henk Jan Nix highlighted several developments designed to support members and strengthen industry standards, including the MERK project, Administrative seizure, PGS 37-2, KZD, the CO2 calculator, and the introduction of a new chairman. Each initiative reflects Stiba’s commitment to both environmental responsibility and the economic well-being of its members.

A Fond Farewell to Chairman Ruud Spuijbroek

The GMM also marked a heartfelt farewell to Ruud Spuijbroek, who stepped down after more than six years as chairman. Ruud’s leadership has been instrumental in guiding Stiba, and his dedication has left an indelible impact on the organization. Stiba expressed deep gratitude for Ruud’s service, honoring him as both a skilled leader and dedicated advocate for the dismantling sector.

A Commitment to Sustainable Progress

The discussions held during ARN Relationship Day resonated with Stiba’s mission, particularly around emerging challenges and advancements in car and battery recycling. As an organization focused on the reuse of quality-assured vehicle parts, Stiba remains dedicated to innovation and sustainability.

Stiba continues to ensure that its certified companies meet strict environmental and quality standards, providing assurance to private individuals and garages alike. Looking forward, Stiba’s leadership and its members stand committed to driving sustainable practices, advocating for industry interests, and supporting the circular economy.
