The GPA group, an industrial player in the circular economy specializing in the recycling of motor vehicles, announces the construction of a factory in Pont-Sainte-Maxence (Oise, Hauts-de-France region). This new unit, which represents an investment of 42 million euros, will be operational from July 2025. It will ensure the recovery of 40,000 vehicles per year from Hauts-de-France and the Paris region. Recruitment and training of the first 70 employees begins.
Labeled “Showcase of the Industry of the Future” in 2022, then a mission-driven company in 202, and with one of the first French positive energy industrial sites, GPA is today recognized as a key player in the European green industry.
After announcing at the beginning of summer the acquisition of the Angevin company Debrito, which constitutes a bridgehead in the West of France, the GPA Group is continuing its strategic roadmap of territorial coverage with the establishment of a new unit in place of an industrial wasteland in Pont-Sainte-Maxence (Oise).
Sized to recycle 40,000 end-of-life vehicles each year, mainly sent by insurance companies, this factory will be both the largest in France and the most technologically advanced, particularly with the deployment of resources dedicated to valorization of electric vehicles and their batteries.
GPA thus confirms its status as a key player in sustainable repair and the circular economy in the automotive industry while remaining independent. It’s a fundamental guarantee for insurers who wish to control the cost of repairs with reused parts and achieve their “sustainability” objectives.
“This investment reflects our desire to increase our industrial capacity while limiting our environmental impact as much as possible, explains Johan Renaud, president of the GPA Group. This ambitious project will help make repairs more economical in a period of tension on the purchasing power of the French, enough to make them love ecology.
It is also the sign of the development of a new industrial sector whose vocation is the preservation of our country’s resources in strategic materials.”
The region’s elected officials supported the implementation of this industrial project which aims to be a flagship of the circular economy.
“The establishment of GPA is a fantastic opportunity for our territory and an illustration of the ecological dynamic that we wish to instill,” rejoices Arnaud Dumontier, mayor of Pont-Sainte-Maxence. In addition to bringing an industrial wasteland back to life, this project creates non-relocatable jobs and contributes to the attractiveness of Hauts-de-France for green industries.”
Xavier Bertrand, President of the Hauts-de-France Region, specifies:
“The Region is proud to welcome GPA, which is a company with recognized expertise. Combining industry, environment and local employment development, GPA is a great showcase of the status of a mission-driven company, a great example of the role that SMEs and ETIs can play in a world in full transition towards greater sustainability. Its establishment will help strengthen the place of Hauts-de-France within the automotive sector and more broadly the circular economy!”
