Leadership and service remain at the heart of the United Recyclers Group (URG), and this week, URG honors a longtime board member while welcoming a new face to its leadership team.
Patrick Garrity, a pillar of URG’s governance for nearly two decades, is stepping down from the Board of Directors after 18 years of impactful service. Garrity’s journey with URG began in 1999 when he joined the Computer Features Committee. He was appointed to the board in 2007 and has since played a critical role in shaping URG’s direction through years of steady growth and change.

“Patrick, thank you for your service, your heart, and your belief in what this group can achieve together,” said Kristi Werner, URG CEO, speaking on behalf of the entire team. “Your dedication has left an indelible mark on our organization and our industry.”
As URG celebrates Garrity’s legacy, the group is also turning its focus toward the future with the addition of a new board member.

David Gold, owner of Standard Auto Wreckers, has officially joined the URG Board of Directors. A third-generation recycler with more than 35 years in the industry, Gold brings deep experience and a proven commitment to innovation and collaboration. He operates three locations across Ontario, including Canada’s first Pinnacle yard, and has been involved with URG since the early 1990s, notably as a founding member of the original Computer Features Committee.
“David embodies the forward-thinking spirit that drives URG,” Werner said. “His leadership and passion for helping recyclers thrive are exactly what we need as we continue to support our members across North America and beyond.”
With this leadership transition, URG reinforces its dedication to advancing the automotive recycling industry through experienced guidance, shared knowledge, and a commitment to community.
